Project 16: Explore Function

For this project I used my office, It used to be a second bedroom. Then I turned it into an office. I took a few photos from different angles to give an idea of the function of the room. Because I couldn't get the full room in one shot.
 ISO 200, f/11, shutter speed 4 sec
focal length 18 mm.
This is my first shot of the room, this photo is to give the viewer impression of what the room look like as you go into it. But the only problem is that you can;t see that much for the wardrobe. The shutter speed for this photo should been much faster.

ISO 200, f/8, shutter speed 6 sec.
focal length 18 mm.
I should use a tripod for these photos, but room was an issue. the room is small and there is a lot of stuff in it.
I think the could of been a better way to photograph the room , but I couldn't think of one.

ISO 200, f/11, shutter speed 4 sec
focal length 18 mm.
This room could have been used for a number of things, e.g games room, storage room etc. It works well as an office for what I need it for.

Project 13: A Standard View

For this Project I took a number of photographs at standard focal length. Some worked quite well and others didn't work that well all all.

As a standard focal length photograph I don't think it works. that well. The overall photograph is ok, but with the lady working a way from the camera, she look too small. I should have been walking behind her while taking the photograph. I think the camera settings I chose where suitable for a sunny day.
ISO 200, f/11, 1/320 sec, 28mm.

I think this photograph work well, I wanted the main focal point to be the people crossing the road. I think it leads the viewers eyes up the main street of town onto the hills at the back of the photograph.
ISO 200, f/10, 1/500 sec. 34mm.

I think this photograph could have been better,if the people had been a bit closer. I have walked a little closer to the people near the shop. I like the shadows on the road, I think it makes the photograph more interesting.
ISO 200, f/10, 1/200 sec, 34mm.

I really like this photograph of the two men setting on the seats. I like how the light falls onto the floor and the texture of the stone buildings. I also like it is just the two men in the photograph. though can get quite busy.
ISO 200, f/10, 1/200 sec, 34mm.

I think this is a good starndard focal length photograph, becuse it has a number of good elements in it. the stone building looks good against the blue sky and the blossom on the tree loks good. I think the colours in this photograph really compliment each other.
ISO 200, f/11, 1/640 sec, 34rmm.

Assignment 2: People and activity

At first I couldn't decide what to do for this assignment, I couldn't think of any sporting activities or social events locally. All I could think of was the farmers market held every month where I live. For this assignment I’ve tried to capture the people who visit the market and the stall holders. I have cropped most of the photos in this assignment.

Photograph 1
For the first photo I wanted to show a distance shot of the market. This is the top of the market square. This shot was really to show people walking into the market. I think this photo has strong lines in it with the clock and surrounding buildings.
ISO 200, F/6.3, 1/500 sec,
18 mm.

Photograph 2

In this photo I wanted to show one side of the market and some of the stall holders. I think the lady in front of her stall was just checking to see if everything looked right. I like the contrast in this photo and the texture. I think the sky and the top of the surrounding buildings look slightly over exposed.
ISO 200, F/4.5, 1/500 sec,
18 mm.

Photogrqaph 3
I saw a few people around a couple of stalls and thought would make a good photo. It looked like they were just looking at the stall. The photo looked too underexposed; you couldn't really see the People's faces that well. So I used the levels in Photoshop to open up the mid tones. I am not sure how much post processing I can do for assignments.
ISO 200, F/4.8, 1/500 sec,
48 mm.

Photograph 4
In this photo I wanted to capture people walking around and those people sat on the seat eating. Again I like the contrast in this photo. There seems to be a lot of activity in this photo people looking at the stall, people eating and some just walking around.
ISO 200, F/9, 1/500 sec,
35mm.

Photograph 5
I in this photo I wanted a close-up to capture the stall holders and the people walking around. I like the differing expressions on people's faces in this photo. Again with this photo the colour and contrast look ok, but at the top of the photo it looks a bit weaker. I don't know if this is because it is a really sunny day, if anything it looks slightly hazy.
ISO 200, F/6.3, 1/500 sec,
92 mm.

Photograph 6
I wanted to show people looking and buying from a stall. I like the colours and tones in this photo. Also like the texture of the floor.
ISO 200, f/3.5, 1/500 sec,
18mm.

Photograph 7
This is another close up photo of people looking at a stall.  Again this photo has some nice colours in it. I like the texture of the man jumper.
ISO 200, f/9, 1/500 sec,
66 mm.

 Photograph 8

In this photo there is a number of people doing different things, and group of them talking outside the black bull pub. I thought this would make a good photo because there were people doing different activities. I like the contrast in this photo and the colours especially the colour of the lady’s cardigan who is still at the burger van.
ISO 200, f/9, 1/500 sec,
35 mm.

Photograph 9
I wanted a close-up of one stall. I really like the tones is this photo. This photo also nice colours in it.
ISO 200, f/5.6, 1/500 sec,
105 mm.

Photograph 10
I saw this lady walked away from a stall, I thought this would make a good close-up photo. This is my favourite photo of this assignment. She really stands out against the slightly blurred background. I think her face slightly over exposed.
ISO 200, f/11, 1/500 sec,
105 mm.

Project 12: Close and involved

For this project I had to take photos at wide focal length around 28mm or less. I found the project a challenge, this was because I needed to be close to the subject with them seeing me.

I took this photo sat on a seat outside my local supermarket. needed to be a bit closer ,but it was hard to get any closer with out them seeing me.These two Lady's where just getting back in the car with their shopping. I still don't feel that confident taking close up photo of people I don't know.

Project 11: Standing back

My focal length for this project was around 100mm. I found this was about right for I needed it for and I feel comfortable taking the photo.

I really like the texture in this photo, it seems to be everywhere. His face is looks very washed out, the sun was quite bright. This is my favourite of this project.

This photo also has some good texture in it. I all so like the contrast and the tones.

I took this photo by chance, I just notice the cyclist and took the photo. I thought i would see what it look like on my computer. I like to tone of ths photo.

Photographers

These photographs are the work of famous photographers that both I like and are inspirational.

DAVID BAILEY:

I think that most people must have heard of David Bailey at one time or another. Below are a couple of photos that I have picked out.

I like how just her face, arm, shoulder are showing and the rest of the photograph is dark. I really like this effect. Again the contrast and lighting on this photograph are amazing.
