Project 12: Close and involved

For this project I had to take photos at wide focal length around 28mm or less. I found the project a challenge, this was because I needed to be close to the subject with them seeing me.

I took this photo sat on a seat outside my local supermarket. needed to be a bit closer ,but it was hard to get any closer with out them seeing me.These two Lady's where just getting back in the car with their shopping. I still don't feel that confident taking close up photo of people I don't know.

Project 11: Standing back

My focal length for this project was around 100mm. I found this was about right for I needed it for and I feel comfortable taking the photo.

I really like the texture in this photo, it seems to be everywhere. His face is looks very washed out, the sun was quite bright. This is my favourite of this project.

This photo also has some good texture in it. I all so like the contrast and the tones.

I took this photo by chance, I just notice the cyclist and took the photo. I thought i would see what it look like on my computer. I like to tone of ths photo.

Photographers

These photographs are the work of famous photographers that both I like and are inspirational.

DAVID BAILEY:

I think that most people must have heard of David Bailey at one time or another. Below are a couple of photos that I have picked out.

This is such a striking photograph, I really like the contrast and the lighting. I allso like her expression and the way she is looking at the camera.

I like how just her face, arm, shoulder are showing and the rest of the photograph is dark. I really like this effect. Again the contrast and lighting on this photograph are amazing.

Project 10: Moment and Gesture: part 1

I found  this project difficult, because when I went out with my camera there where people walking  about and doing nothing special. I only saw this man working on the outside lights at a local supermarket. I like the texture of the roof  and the Strong lines in the photo. I couldn't really get in any closer to the subject, I should have put my larger lens on, but I didn't have with me.

Project 10: Moment and Gesture: part 2
I thought I would have another go at this project. I took a lot more time waiting for the right moment to take my photographs. I feel more confident taking photographs of people unaware.

My first impression of this photograph was it looked to busy. There where too many distractions, and too many different colours with shop signs. I changed it to B&W to see what it would look like, I think it look better in B&W. There still a lot go on in the photograph, but with out the colour it seems less busy. I really like the contrast and the tone of the overall photograph. I think the dark sign  across the shop and the one that sticks out sets the contrast off in rest of the photograph.
I may have been better if the bottom part of the street was slightly blurred. I think the camera settings that used was ok for the weather conditions
ISO 200. f/11, 1/400 sec. 30mm.
The pub wall in the photograph is too distracting, I should of been over to the left more when taking the shot. Nothing really stands out in the photograph. I should have waited for the white van to move and focused into the street more. I may have been better of using a higher f- number  and a faster shutter speed with it been such a sunny day.
ISO 200, f/11, 1/200 sec, 34mm.

I should have had a better view point for this photograph,.It would have been better in I had cross over the road, it would have given me a clearer view of the people crossing the road.
The composition in this photograph could have beern much better, theres too much of the pub in the frame.
I think the camera setting where ok, but it would have been better if I had a focused in closser to the people crossing the road
ISO 200, f/10, 1/200 sec, 32mm.

Comfortable Situation

I was really apprehensive about this project, I've never taken photos of people I didn't know before.
I tried to have a plan before doing this project, but I couldn't really think of one. so in the end I just did what felt comfortable.

I think in this photo I should have been closer to the person I was photographing. But I still felt uncomfortable at this stage about taking photos of strangers. This photo was taken on the way into town, I thought I would take a few photos on my way into town.

This photo is still not close enough to the subjects. It also seems a little dark.

By this photo I'm feeling a bit more confident. I am closer in on the subject. I took this photo while waking behined this lady. This photo is better than the frist two. I like the strong lines in this photo.

When I was taking this photo, people where just walking about in town. This photo is also a little dark.
